Daniel was my favorite TA in art school. He was authentic, fun and down-to-earth — not the combo you usually get in an art TA. I only had him for one quarter and then we went our separate ways … until we bumped into each other in a boutique in Silver Lake many years later. We’ve since kept in touch, even as he moved to Londontown a couple of years back. Recently, Daniel was in LA for a friend’s wedding and he graciously made time to grab lunch with me in Larchmont. His interview shows that he’s changed in profound ways over the years but that in essence he is the same as he was when he was a grad student and my TA: authentic, down-to-earth and fun.
